Hazrat Nizamuddin Darga is a marble tomb and one of the greatest Sufi shrines. This tomb was constructed for Sheikh Nizamuddin Auliya in 1325 and he was the fourth saint of the Chishtiya order.

Due to frequent renovations, the tomb is enclosed by a marble rail, arches, lattice screens and a mother-of-pearl canopy. As this dargah is alive and vibrant, devotees from all over the world are attracted here.

In the evening, qawwals or poet-singers perform religious songs and music. There is a red sandstone tomb close to the saint’s tomb. This tomb is of Amir Khusro who was the main disciple of the Sheikh as well as a poet and chronicler.

He is looked upon as the first Urdu poet as well as he created ‘khyal’ which is a type of North Indian classical music. There is also a tomb of Princess Jahanara who was the favorite daughter of Emperor Shah Jahan.

One can also view the Jam-at Khana Masjid, which was built by Alauddin Khilji’s son, Khizr Khan in 1325.
