The Nehru Museum & Planetarium is located at the residence of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. He stayed at this place for 16 years. It is also called as Teenmurti Bhavan.
Currently, there is a library, museum and planetarium that are dedicated to Nehru. The personal museum is in fact the study, the drawing room and the bedroom that are maintained exactly as they were during the death of Nehru.
There are photographs of his youth, childhood and achievements. The priceless gifts that were given to Nehru in India as well as overseas are retained in the Gifts gallery.
This includes the Bharat Ratna medal that Nehru received in 1955. There exists the Jawahar Jyoti which is a representation of the ideals of Nehru. This eternal flame burns during day as well as night.
In the front lawn, there is a massive granite rock on which Nehru’s first speech after India became independent is inscribed.
This museum is closed on Mondays.
