Angul: Attractions and more...
In Angul there are several Hindu religious temples and caves. One of them is a temple named Budhi Thakurani, which is built on a tiny hill. A Jagannatha temple presently known as Saila Srikhetra is also situated close to Budhi Thakurani, one of the popular religious spots of the town which is visited by major devotees throughout the year. A temple of Mahalaxmi is built in Tikarapada which is 50 km from the district headquarters and 200 kilometers from Bhubaneswar. Bhimkund is another most visited tourist place of the district, located at 28 km from Angul. We can see a big statue of the sleeping Vishnu Lord, on the river of Bramhani.
Deulajhari is again an important religious place in Angul. It is the most popular site from the view point of religion and nature. The richness of the culture and the temples reflects the heritage of its past. Many flowers forest are found nearby. Ogi-Para is located near the National Highway No 42, just 2 km from the highway near the village.
