Panaji (‘Panjim’ in English) is the capital city of the Indian State of Goa. The meaning of Panaji is ‘the land that does not flood’.
Panaji is 1,022 meters above sea-level. It lies on the banks of the Mandavi river and has a pleasant weather all through the year. Summers and winters are moderate in climate. Panaji is home to about 66,000 people as of 2005 census.
