Tourist Guide Mahe
Mahé is a small town which is surrounded on all sides by Kerala. This town is officially a part of the Union Territory of Puducherry. Mahe is also known as Mayyazhi in the local language. The area covers many suburbs that come on the highway between the regions of Kannur up to Badagara. This part comes under the well known district of Kozhikode. Although the people here are not much educated and a bit backward in terms of religions and customs, this has not been an obstacle in the commercial progress of this part. The climate here is extremely favorable to the locals and also to the plantations. Mahé had a population of 36,823, as recorded by the 2001 census. The population here is predominantly Malayali. It is the large cultural and educational hub in the entire area of Puducherry. This area faces water on one side and thus is also called as the ‘Eyebrow of the Sea’. There are very good educational institutes here and people from neighbouring towns come here for higher education.
