Amritsar is a city in Punjab exclusively famous for the Golden Temple. As the name suggests, the temple is covered with real gold. The beauty of the temple and its sanctity is famous across the nation as well as around the globe.
Thousands of devotees from around the world come in Amritsar to pay homage to this temple. Apart from this enchanting temple, there are several other shrines located in the city.
All these shrines and temple are open to all the visitors, irrespective of their country or religion. However, every visitor must respect the rules and regulations of these shrines.
Shoes and socks are not allowed inside the shrines, including the Golden Temple. One can walk on the mats spread on the walking ways inside the temple. This will protect the feet from burning on hot sunny days.
Though it's not compulsory, but one must dress decently before entering into the Gurudwaras.
Rickshaws are convenient mode of transport in the city. One must remain careful while traveling in these open rickshaws.
