A tour across the state of Punjab can't start somewhere different from Chandigarh, the capital city. Also known as ‘City Beautiful’, this city literally translates into the ‘fort of Chandi’, Chandi who is a Hindu deity.

The rose garden which is one of Asia’s largest Rose gardens is situated in this city.

Sukha Lake and Rock Garden are two more top tourist attractions.

Amritsar is a city that is the religious and cultural centre of the Sikhs. It houses the famous Golden temple also know as Harimandir Sahib.

This city is also known for its unfortunate incidents of Jallianwala Bagh Massacre in the year 1919 and Operation Blue Star in the year 1984 when India was under the British Rule.

Wonderland, the Devi talab Mandir, the Puspha Gujral Science City, Haveli are a few must visits when in the city of Jalandhar. One of the most celebrated events of this city is the annual Harballabh Fair held usually in December.

Ludhiana is known to be the biggest city in Punjab. It is situated on the old bank of the river Sutlej.

The main tourist attractions are the Rakh Bagh, Nehru Rose Garden, Guru Nanak Stadium, Maharaja Raja Ranjeet Singh Fort.

The city of Patiala is situated along the south eastern part of the state. It was the former capital of Punjab during the British Raj. It is famed for its paranda (tasseled tag for braiding hair), Jutti (traditional footwear), Pagri (traditional headgear) and peg (equivalent to a double or large peg of whiskey)
