Mohali is situated to the west of Chandigarh, the capital of Punjab.
It is bounded by Rupnagar to its north and Patiala and Fatehgarh Sahib to the south.
It is officially called as SAS nagar or Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar after the eldest son of Guru Gobind Singh.
This place has a sub-tropical continental monsoon weather that comprises of slightly cold winters, hot summers, a large alteration of temperatures from -1 to 44 degrees Celsius and unreliable rainfall. In December and January, sometimes there is formation of frost.
As per the census of 2001, the population of this place was 123,284.
In Mohali, the main spoken language is Punjabi while English and Hindi are also widely used.
