Tourist Guide Patiala
Patiala is a city in Punjab state and is the administrative headquarters of the Patiala district which was one of the erstwhile princely states of Punjab.
Patiala has produced many famous personalities like Mohinder Amarnath and Navjot Singh Sidhu in cricket, Om Puri and Jimmy Shergill in films, Harbhajan and Gurdas Mann in singing as well as Sq Ldr Rakesh Sharma a space astronaut.
As per the census of 2001, the population of Patiala was 0.302 million.
Patiala is known for Jutti (traditional Punjabi footwear), Peg (a double or large peg of whiskey), paranda (tasseled tag for braiding hair) and pagri (traditional headgear).
The climate of Patiala is very extreme i.e. it is very cold in winter while very hot in summer and the average yearly rainfall is 688 millimeters.
