Deeg is a lesser-known town which is about thirty-four km from Bharatpur, Rajasthan. It is believed to be built by Badan Singh in 1722 AD and is mainly famous for its well-maintained palaces and mughal gardens, among other things.
A 3-day fair held in the month of September each year is the highlight of the town and is the best period to experience the rural heritage and culture.
Deeg Fort is the most famous palace amongst the forts in Deeg. Complete with massive walls and a wide moat it was constructed on an elevated plain. A huge cannon, few bastions and impressive gateways make the fort a sight to behold.
Other palaces are just as impressive, employing an unmatched blend of Rajput and Mughal architectural styles. Well-maintained Mughal gardens can be seen surrounding these palaces.
There is a Laxmi Mata Mandir, situated at about twenty-km from Deeg.
