Sukh Niwas Mahal situated on the north-east corner of Bundi is an 18th century summer palace that overlooks a small lake. It is an attractive building concealed by overgrown trees and gardens which create a peculiar atmosphere.

The Mahal (palace) is at walking distance from the center of the town Bundi and is a very quiet place that has a romantic touch which is almost forgotten along with time.

It is no surprise that Rudyard Kipling spent some time here and from the surroundings drew inspiration for his writing of the popular work KIM. The front portion of the palace is decorated with painted figures of the Bundi-style.
