The Victory Tower, locally known as Vijay Stambh, is a remarkable monument located inside the Chittaurgarh Fort in Rajasthan. Maharana Kumbha ordered its construction in 1440 AD when he won the war against the intruder Mohammed Khilji.
It is constructed partially out of red sand-stone and partially out of white-marble. Legend has it that it took nearly ten years for the completion of the tower.
This amazing tower stands thirty-seven meters in height and is about nine-stories tall. Each of these storeys has an opening and a balcony.
The staircase located inside the tower alternately winds through the central-chamber and an adjacent gallery. There are impressive decorations of Hindu Gods and Goddesses on the tower, as well as those of weapons, seasons and musical instruments and so on.
Many interesting scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata are depicted here. From atop the tower, one can get magnificent views of the city.
