Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, is one of the best planned Indian cities. Situated in the eastern part of Rajasthan, Jaipur is more popularly known as the ‘Pink City’. With a population of around 2,324,000, Jaipur is one of the most important heritage cities of India.
It has an extreme climate, which is extremely hot in summers and cold in winters. The best time to visit Jaipur is during winter. Rainfall is scarce throughout the city.
The city of Jaipur was built by Raja Sawai Jai Singh in the eighteenth century. In 1876, the whole city was painted in pink to welcome the Prince of Wales.
Jaipur is well known for its traditional attires like ‘pagadis’ and ‘ghaghra-cholis’. The ghoomer dance is one of the traditional dance forms. Traditional jewellery adorned with ‘kundan’ and ‘meenakari’ work is extremely popular.
