The Jantar Mantar in Jaipur is easily accessible by roads. The ideal time to visit it is from October to March and the visiting hours are from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Jantar Mantar is a huge observatory built from 1728 to 1734. The term “jantar mantar” means “instruments for measuring the harmony of the heavens.” There are seventeen instruments in this place that can be used for a particular function.

The huge Kranti Yantra is related to the measurement of the latitude and longitude of the celestial bodies. The angular measurement of an object from the equator is found by the Chakra Yantra.

The Small Ram Yantra is used to find the altitude and the large Ram Yantra for the azimuth.

The azimuth of planetary bodies is found out by the Diganta Yantra. The Jai Prakash Yantra is used to find out the exact co-ordinates of the celestial bodies.

There is a small iron plate held between the cross wires that can be used to find the latitude and longitude of the Sun as well as the zodiac sign that it is passing through.
