Guru Shikar
At about 15 kilometers towards the North-East of Mount Abu is situated the highest peak of the Aravalli Range called as Guru Shikar which is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site.
Nakki Lake
As per a legend, a Hindu God created a lake using his nails and hence this lake is called as Nakki (nail) Lake from where one can have a magnificent view of the surrounding hills as well as it is an ideal location for boating.
Dilwara Jain Temples
The Dilwara Jain Temples are the most popular tourist attraction in Mount Abu. These temples are dedicated to different Tirthankaras (fordmaker in Jainism) and are carved in white marble.
There are 48 pillars out of which on some there are intricately carved sculptures of females in dancing poses. These temples which are sacred to Jains were built between the 11th and 13th centuries. The Vimal Vasahi temple which took 14 years for construction is dedicated to Adinath who was the first Jain Tirthankara.
Other Temples
Some other attractions of Mount Abu are the Shri Raghunathji Temple, Adhar Devi Temple and the Gaumukh Temple. The word Gaumukh is derived from two words ‘Gau’ meaning cow and ‘mukh’ means face. In the compound of this temple there is a sculpted cow.
