Monsoon Palace
The Monsoon Palace is a palatial residence about 5 kilometers from Udaipur that was constructed in 1884 by Maharana Sajjan Singh and hence also called as Sajjangarh.
It overlooks the Fateh Sagar Lake and stands at an altitude of 3100 feet above sea level and 1100 feet above its surroundings. The appearance of this palace is best during the monsoon season and it also offers a comprehensive view of the palaces, lakes and nearby countryside so the name ‘Monsoon Palace’ has been coined.
The hillside of this palace comprises of thick woods and the former rulers utilized this place as a royal shooting preserve. This white palace has high turrets as well as each tower is regulated by the guards.
There is a grand central staircase as well as several rooms and quarters in this palace. The 1983 James Bond film Octopussy used this palace as one of the shooting locations
