Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal is a folk-art museum that displays paintings, musical instruments, ornaments, folk dresses, masks, folk deities, rural dresses, dolls and puppets.
There are cultural performances in this museum which are very colorful and thrilling and are a major source of attraction for the tourists who come here. There are also puppet shows organized during the night that last for about 15 minutes which are very much liked by the small children.
This museum serves as a repository of information for scholars and students and assists them in their research work regarding the traditional art and culture pertaining to the mystic land of Rajasthan.
Although Rajasthan has several museums and galleries that are an evidence of the rich art and heritage of the state, the most renowned museum in the Udaipur city is the Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal.
This is open from 9 am to 6 pm usually for all seven days of the week. The Bharatiya Lok Kala Mandal was founded by Padma Shri Devilal Samar in 1952 with an intention of preserving the charm of the bygone era.
This museum performs a significant role in safeguarding the traditional art and culture of Udaipur as well as other cities in the state of Rajasthan. There have been several occasions in the past when the authorities have performed their art on the stage and earned fame at a national as well as international level.
