Udaipur is crowded in the peak season from October to March and it is better to make reservations in advance from the right travel agents as there are some who might mislead you to inappropriate hotels.
While visiting Pushkar or the area in the Gaths beware of people who might offer you drugs and just avoid them. The summer is unreasonably hot and one can suffer from heat pimples so beware and carry sunscreen lotions and creams.
There are daily power cuts in Udaipur which last for several hours; however the bigger hotels have generators which can be a great comfort. Beware of the monkeys while visiting Ranakpur as they can snatch food or scratch you, while you are unaware or if you go near them.
Always bargain while purchasing anything as most of the shop vendors tend to overcharge. The area near the Lake Palace is ideal for viewing but not recommended for drinking or swimming as it is polluted with garbage.
