Geyzing or Gyalshing is the capital of the West Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim. This town is well connected to the capital Gangtok by a metalled road. This town is also connected to the West Bengal towns of Kalimpong and Darjeeling through Jorethang. This town also enjoys a temperate climate for most time of the year which snowfall sometimes in the vicinity.
Geyzing is located at 27.28 North latitude and 88.27 East longitudes. It has an average elevation of 823 meters which is approximately 2700 feet. As per the 2001 India census, the town had a population of 828. The males constitute 59 percent of the population and the females constitute 41 percent of the population. The town has an average literacy rate of 72 percent which is higher than the national average of 59.5 percent. The male literacy is 75 percent and the female literacy is 68 percent. In Geyzing, 9 percent of population is under the age of 6 years.
