Geyzing: Attractions and more...
Pelling town is only a few kilometers to the north side of this town. There is an ancient town of Yuksom near Geyzing which is the ancient capital of Sikkim. This town was built in 1642. Other attractions include the Pemyangtse monastery which was built in 1640 and which is reputedly known as Sikkim’s oldest monastery. Then there is the Khecheopalri Lake where the legends say that not even a leaf is allowed to float on the surface of the lake.
Geyzing has a large Nepali population and the predominant language of the region is Nepali. This town is situated at an altitude of about 6,500 feet which is 1,900 meters. So, Geyzing is also the base for trekking in the Himalayas and for professional expeditions to Mount Kanchenjunga.
There are lots of tourists who come and visit the town for enjoying the scenic beauty of the mountains. There are also festivals which bring liveliness and fun in the daily life of the residents and the tourists.
