Tourist Guide Chennai:

Chennai, in the past known as Madras, is the capital of the great state Tamil Nadu and one of the four metropolitan cities in India. It is situated in the southern part of India.

This city is only 350 years old and it grew up under the influence of an English settlement of Fort Saint George, with the time it absorbed the towns and villages in the surrounding.
The British influence didn’t hinder Chennai in keeping its traditional Tamil Hindu culture.

The city has a wide extension of about 180 square kilometres and is one of the most important trading centres of India.
Chennai is well connected by road, rail and air to other important cities and is also a sea port.

In 1639 Chennai was a little fisherman’s village, nowadays it is one of the biggest and more beautiful cities of India.

Chennai's economy has a broad industrial base in the automobile, computer, technology, hardware manufacturing and healthcare industries. The city is India's second largest exporter of information technology (IT) and business process outsourcing (BPO) services. A major chunk of India's automobile manufacturing industry is based in and around the city and hence it is called the Detroit of India. Chennai is an important centre for Carnatic music and hosts a large cultural event, the annual Madras Music Season, which includes performances by hundreds of artists. The city has a vibrant theatre scene and is an ... More important centre for the Bharata Natyam, a classical dance form. The Tamil film industry is based in Chennai.

Chennai, the capital city, is going out of our culture. The trend has changed everything and every people. So there is lack of safety as well as the people has been addicted to western culture and make themselves spoil thier life. It is too dangerous while thinking of the future of today's generation. We must be back to our culture.

Very useful as I have friends and family there. My brother-in-law also has a house in Tamil Nadu and as such we may travel from Chennai proper to the village of Damarapakkam which is in between Arcot and Arni. The weather may be very hot, but the food and friends make up for the unpleasant weather.

CITY IS GOOD BUT LACKS TRAFFIC SENSE COMPARED TO BOMBAY AND BANGALORE. ROADS ARE NOT PROPER IN OLD TOWN. ONLY MAIN PLACES ARE CONCENTRATED. SHOPPING IN TNAGAR IS BECOMING A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE THANKS TO LACK OF OF PARKING SPACE AND GARBAGE.

I live in chennai since my birth. Only thing is you must own your house. Then you are the most satisfied person. If you are in a rented house you will not like Chennai. Probably this holds good to any city in India.

Good. But expensive. Would be better if it is clean and has good transport facilities. Better maintananace of roads and waste disposal is required. Peeking rates must be controlled. Rate check must be followed
