The visitors can spend their time around the marketplace and just chill with the colorful scene at the market. Prithu Mandapam is a famous market which is located at the entrance of the Meenakshi Temple. This market is famous for its cotton and batiks. The skilled tailors at the textile center display their skills in cotton and printed fabrics. The Poompuhar Handicrafts shop, Madurai Gallery and the Cottage Arts Emporium are famous for bell-metal lamps, hand-woven silks and cottons, wood and stone carvings and bronze images.
