The area surrounding the main temple of Mariamman is called as the Marriamman Teppakulam. The atmosphere here is very traditional and religious. This area is always flooded with devotees as the goddess here is believed to have curing powers. Various kinds of offerings are made to the deity who makes this place one of the wealthiest in Tamil Nadu. Here people buy steel replicas of their body parts that need to be cured and donate them to the temple.
