The Botanical Garden in Ooty is the prime attraction in the city. Laid in the year 1847, it boasts of rare species of trees, well manicured gardens and extensive varieties of flora. Maintained by the Tamil Nadu’s Horticulture Department, the most important attraction here is the 20 million old fossil trees, an Italian Garden and the only tree in India, on which monkeys cannot climb.
