Tiruchirapalli is also called as Trichy.

In Tamil language, the meaning of ‘Tiru’ is ‘in respect of’ and of ‘Chira’ is Jain monks. Thus, the entire name means ‘the town of the respected monk’.

This city is on the banks of river Kaveri in Tamil Nadu state.

During summer, the temperature ranges from 28 to 40 degrees Celsius. In the winter, it varies from 15 to 29 degrees Celsius. The yearly rainfall is about 250 millimeters.

One may visit this place at any time in the year.

This city has a multi-cultural society. There are a large number of people who speak Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu and English.

The city is assumed to be friendly with the tourists and has a calm outlook. The tourists can experience specific Kerala, Andhra and Anglo-Indian cuisines.
