Tourist Guide Agartala:

Agartala is the capital of Tripura state. The average height of the city is 16 meters.

This city has grown on a plain besides the Haora River. In the northern region, the city encompasses the low lying hills.

Throughout the year, this place has a pleasant climate and the temperature is never extreme. From March to June, there is the summer season and the ambience is warm. From July to September, there is monsoon and the weather is warm and humid. From October to February, it is winter and the climate is cold.

As per the census of 2001, the population of Agartala was 189,327. A majority of people in Agartala are Bengalis.

Bengali language is of more importance in this city. Some other languages spoken by the people here are Nepali, Changma, Manipuri and Kokborok.

The prime festivals in Agartala are the Saraswati Puja and the Durga Puja.

The population of the native Tripuri people is also increasing.

Not very big city. When at Agartala, manage a night to stay at Sipahijala Sanctuary Forest rest house... it is unforgetable experience. Visit Trishna sanctuary, Debtamurha, Kamala sagar Kalibari. Pilak is encient ramnant...not very organised. Without visiting Unokoti, hill of sleeping Gods, having lots of stone cut sculpture, Tripura visit canot be fulfilled. Other places of interest are Matabari, Nirmahal (in Rudrasagar...water palace with light and sound show..most famous and highlighted), Ujjayanta prasad (palace), MBB college compound, Laxminarayan temple, Anadamayee Kalibari, Jaggannathbari, Gedumiyar Masjid, ... More Buddha mandir and the Museam. Have ride through new capital complex. While visiting places you will really enjoy the evergreen forest and nature. The place is totally safe, now no teeth of insurgency. Not like tourist destination, professional tourist services are lacking.
