The Tripura Legislative Assembly currently meets at the Ujjayanta Palace. This is the former royal palace.
This building has now become a tourist attraction. The tours are organized by the Tripura tourism department.
This palace was constructed in 1899-1901 by Maharaja Radhakishore Manikya. It is estimated that the cost of this palace was one million Indian Rupees.
The area of this palace is about one square kilometer. The main block is spread on 800 acres. This area comprises of the Reception hall, the Library and the Throne room.
The Tripura University was established in 1947. Here, there are post-graduate courses for sixteen subjects. The different centre’s, directorates and departments offer 38 degree courses.
Maharaja Bir Bikram College is instead the oldest college for a student to apply for a degree course in the state of Tripura.
The Maharaja Bir Bikram College provides general education in the streams of Humanities, Commerce and Science.
