Birbal Bhavan is located in Fatehpur Sikri close to the Jodha Bai Palace. It is believed that this building was built either by or for Birbal, the favorite courtier of Akbar.
Although, this Bhavan is small in size, one is enticed by the superb design execution. The Victorian-era French author, Victor Hugo has stated that this Bhavan was either a small palace or a large jewelry box.
The Bhavan is a graceful building which has cool interiors. The reason is that as there is a double domed structure the interiors are insulated and also the positioning of the building is such that there is maximum shade.
Some other points worth interest in Fatehpur Sikri are Jodha Bai Palace, Panch Mahal, Buland Darwaja, Diwan-e-Khas and Diwan-e-Aam.
The city Fatehpur Sikri was constructed by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1564 A.D., which is 39 kilometers from Agra and it was here that Saint Salim Chisti had foretold Akbar that he would be blessed with a son.
