Sikandra is the final resting destination of the Mughal Emperor, Akbar the Great.
This is situated on the Delhi-Agra Highway and is at a distance of ten kilometers from Agra Fort.
The tomb built by Akbar demonstrates how consummate his personality was. It was a custom to build one’s tomb while one was alive and the Mughals strictly followed it.
The design of this tomb was created by Akbar himself and he chose the apt site for it.
This red-ochre sandstone tomb is vast and beautiful.
Here, there is a lush garden that has langoor monkey’s, rabbists and deer. Design elements from both Hindu and Muslims were applied for this structure.
