Situated along the banks of the Yamuna River, the city of Agra is world famous because of its stunning Mughal-era buildings like the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and the Fatehpur Sikri.
Other places of interest in Agra include Itmad-Ud-Daulah’s Tomb, Mankameshwar temple, Sikandra which is Akbar’s tomb.
Well known as Benares or Banaras, the city of Varanasi is located on the banks of the River Ganges. Considered to be one of the oldest cities equivalently old as Jerusalem, this place is commonly called as the ‘city of light’ or the ‘city of temples’ or the ‘culture capital of India’.
Varanasi is famous for its brassware and silks apart from lamp shades, masks, carpets and wall hangings.
Sarnath is known as the deer park in which Buddha first taught the Dharma; this city is situated approximately 13km from Varanasi.
Allahabad is instead located at the convergence of the two holy rivers.
This place is a region of vital importance to the Hindu religion. It is one of the four sites of the Kumbh Mela (pilgrimage that occurs four times every twelve years and rotates among four locations)
