Ghaziabad is situated in the midst of the Ganga-Yamuna Doab. Towards the north of Ghaziabad is the Meerut district which is 46 kilometers away and the National Capital Delhi shares a border with Ghaziabad.
Some other places that surround Ghaziabad are Faridnagar, Dhaulana, Dasna, Bahadurgarh and Ajrara.
The founder of this city is Ghazi-ud-din and formerly this place was called Ghaziuddinnagar. It is a large industrial city well connected with other cities by rail and road (there are UP State Transport buses).
Previously, Ghaziabad was an unremarkable suburb that over the years has transformed to an aristrocratic area that has several industrial outlets, parks and shopping malls.
During the summer season, the temperature varies from 30 to 42 degrees Celsius and in the winter ranges from 5 to 25 degrees Celsius. The ideal time to visit this place is from October to March.
The local people here speak Urdu, Hindi and English languages. Formerly this place was in the Meerut district. However on 14th November 1976, the then Chief Minister Mr.N.D.Tiwari announced that Ghaziabad was a separate district.
