Shah Najaf Imambara is close to the Chariton Hotel in Lucknow. It can be visited at any time in the year. However, non-Muslims are not permitted to enter the premises.
In Lucknow, one has to hire a rickshaw or an auto or a cab to reach this place. This is a white-domed structure located on the right side of the river Gomti.
Nawab Ghazi-ud-Din Haider, the Nawab of Awadh from 1814 to 1827, constructed this structure to be used as his mausoleum.
Nawab Haider’s and his wives remains are cremated here. In front of the entrance, there is a grand garden. In the center of the building, is a silver tomb of Nawab Haider On one side of this tomb there is a more grandiose gold and silver tomb of Mubarak Mahal, who was the European wife of Nawab Haider.
