Women must make it a point not to visit the monuments after sunset and particularly not alone as Lucknow is by all means a conservative city.
So, women should not don short and very revealing clothes as it results in unnecessary attraction and in this way this is a slightly difficult place to be in for white women, but on the whole it is a safe place, although there are many incidences of kidnappings and students must be wary while in the university.
Sometimes it may happen that a guide may show you around the place, when you have not requested him to do so, and afterwards, this guide may ask for a huge sum of money. Thus, it must be decided beforehand regarding the amount of money that is required from the tourist.
