Sikandra
Emperor Akbar commissioned the building of his own mausoleum at Sikandra in 1602. Marble and red sandstone is used to build this mausoleum. Out of the four gates three are for decorative reasons and the entrance has minarets and white marble cupolas. This structure uses Islamic, Hindu, Christian, Jain and Buddhist themes and conveys a message about the new religion which Akbar had initiated – the Deen-e-Ilahi. This mausoleum is made of five floors and each has paintings, attractive carvings and huge arches.
Krishna Janambhoomi
The Krishna Janambhoomi is regarded as the birthplace of Lord Krishna and is highly respected. As per the local people the current temple has been constructed over the location of the prison where the Lord was born.
Government Museum
The Government Museum is situated at Dampier Park where one can find rare objects that are related to the Gupta and Kushan period (400 B.C. to 1200 A.D.) and some collections of Mathura School of Sculptures.
Dwarkadhish Temple
The Dwarkadhish Temple is currently the most visited temple in Mathura and is handled by the followers of the Vallabha sect. This is situated in the heart of the city and was built in the year 1814. It is a very magnificent temple renowned for its architectural magnificence.
Kusum Sarovar
Kusum Sarovar is a 450 feet long tank that has a depth of 60 feet. From all sides there are flights of stairs and belongs to the era of Lord Krishna.
