Muzaffarnagar is a district in Uttar Pradesh in north of India.
The Ganga and Jamuna Rivers separate the district from the neighboring regions with Haryana and Karnal to its west, Sharanpur to its north, Uttar Pradesh and Bijnor to its east and Meerut to its south.
The district has a population of 343,460 people out of which a majority is Hindus and the rest include Jains, Muslims, Christians and Sikhs.
More than 70% of the population is engaged in agriculture and Muzaffarnagar has the largest market of jaggery in the world.
The district has an Indo-Islamic influence with a number of monuments and havelis from the Mogul period spread across the region.
There are 2 medical and engineering colleges in the district. The district is also well connected via rail and road network.
