Asi Ghat is located where the river Asi meets the Ganges river at the southernmost part of Varanasi. If one starts from the South towards the Manikarnika Ghat, the Asi Ghat is reached first.
Those pilgrims who wish to worship the huge lingam (symbol of Lord Shiva) under the Peepal tree have to compulsorily bathe at this Ghat first.
There is another lingam worth visiting and it is called as the Asisangameshvara or the “Lord of the Confluence of the Asi.” This lingam has been placed in a small marble temple close to the Asi Ghat
