The Tulsi Manas Temple is situated about 7 kilometers from the railway station. This temple has a historical as well as cultural importance and the reason is that the famous Hindu epic Ramayana was composed here.
In the past, Ramayana was only available in Sanskrit and hence the general masses could not reach up to it. However Goswami Tulsi Das composed the epic in Hindi in the form of “Ram Charit Manas.”
Due to this Hindi translation, Lord Rama became a deity instead of a King who held dignity as the most important aspect and due to this translation by Tulsi Das, Rama became a god and ruled the hearts of the Indian masses irrespective of their religion.
The current temple is built on the same spot Tulsi Das wrote Ramayana. This temple is not very impressive, but its importance lies in the simplicity. The calm atmosphere is a good break from the madding and jostling crowds at Vishwanath Temple and the walls of this temple have verses from Ram Charit Manas.
