Almora is actually a municipal board and a cantonment town in the Almora district in Uttarakhand. This town was founded in 1568. It is a town which is bustling with lots of activities and where there is a rich cultural heritage and history of events. It is also considered as the cultural heart of the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand.
Almora is situated at 29.62 of North latitude and 79.67 of East longitude. It has an average elevation of 1,651 meters which is of 5,417 feet. As per the 2001 India census, Almora had a population of 30,613. The males constitute 53.7 percent of the population whereas the females constitute roughly around 46.3 percent.
