Tourist Guide Dehradun:

Dehradun is the capital city of the Uttarakhand state. From the capital of India New Delhi, Dehradun is about 230 kilometers by road.

Dehradun is situated in the Doon valley. Towards the north of this city are the Himalayas. Towards the south of the city are the Shivalik Hills. Towards the east is the longest river Ganga (Ganges) and towards the west is the river Yamuna.

This city has a sub-tropical climate. The summers are very hot, the monsoon is very heavy and winters can be very chilly. During the winter, there is continuous snowfall and the temperature of the city does rarely drop below the freezing point.

The highlight of this city is that there are a large number of high schools that entice students from all over India. One can see the students in high-school uniforms moving throughout the city.

There are blue striped city buses that move through the city. Another very famous scene is of the omnipresent blue three wheel vehicles. It is claimed that these vehicles lead to a large amount of air and noise pollution.

Dehradun is heaven. No other place has such a perfect mix of culture and modernity. Neither will you miss the dynamics of Metro cities, nor will you have to search for the blessings of nature any more here. But one honest request, do visit Dehradun and other heavenly places in Uttarakhand to have an ultimate experience but please !! please !! please !! try not to settle down here, because it has already been overcrowded with outsiders......

Nice place for spending a day or two. Nearby (28 Km) Mussorie is a beutiful hill station. Haridwar and Rishikesh, the hindu piligramage are also 30-35 kms fro here. The way to Badrinath is through Dehradun. Hotels are plenty and price vary from budget, mid range to costly. City transport is average. You can hire Rickshaw or cabs for local transportation.

I am from Dehradun (DD) & it is best for - schooling - natural outings - learning from nature for kids - good weather outside city - gateway to hills - and many more. But, it still makes visitors to romance with its nature & weather & that makes them promise to come again. My lovely Dehradun - I miss 'U'.

I love dehradun .dehradun iz very nice place fr spending holidays with family. Dnt miss to see dehraduns forest, really its very nice place i miss dehradun. Dnt miss to aeebuddhas temple and malls. I want to work in dehradun, really this place is awesome.

Nice place, a bit congested, but then that is almost in every township. Good picnic spots, stepping place for Uttrakhand pilgrimage. Very good schooling facilities.

I QUIET FEEL THAT DEHRADUN IS A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE CAN ENJOY THE LIFE WITH THERE FAMILY BUT ITS NOT A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE CAN WORK .WORKING ENVIRONMENT IS NOT GOOD.

Very expensive, traffic system is a big failure, encroachment problem, no quality higher education, climate is good otherwise a good and peaceful city.
