Haridwar is one of the Char Dhams in India. Char Dham are four sacred places in the nation which are visited by hundreds of devotees and tourists around the world.
Haridwar is a collection of a number of holy places. Brahma Kund is a holy pond, where devotees take a bath. Devotees believe that bathing in the Kund washes away all their sins.
Haridwar consists of five pilgrimage sites. The sacred Ghats at the Har-Ki-Pauri, Gangadwar, Kankhal, Neel Parvat and Bilwas Teerth are these five places.
There are temples of three goddesses which are important deities for Indian devotees. These are Chandi Devi, Mansa Devi and Maya Devi. Tourists can visit the bird sanctuary called Neel Dhara Pakshi Vihar.
Haridwar consists of several other holy sites located at close proximity. The Ashram of Sapt Rishi is a picturesque location situated at about 7 kms from Haridwar. There is also a beautiful lake called Sapt Sarovar near this Ashram.
