Getting around in Calcutta

The Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math has a branch in Kolkata situated at Ramakrishna Math, 1 Udbodhan Lane, Baghbazar.

This is the worldwide headquarter of all the Ramkrishna Math centers and sub-centers. This center is also called as the Mother’s House or Udbodhan. This office is the main publishing house of Bengali books of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

By means of the publications, the center has contributed largely for the spreading of Ramakrishna-Vivekananda and Vedanta ideology. On every Thursday, Friday and Sunday, there are classes on the scriptures and different books of Sri Ramakrishna-Vivekananda literature.

Devotees attend these classes after the evening prayer. On the birthdays of Swami Saradananda and the Holy Mother, there is special worship.

On the Shiva Ratri, Kali Puja and Phalaharini Kali Puja days, there is worship that extends throughout the night.
