The Dakshineshwar Kali Temple is located at Dakshineshwar in Kolkata. The visiting time is from 7 am to 12 pm and 4 pm to 9 pm. Goddess Kali is associated with Tuesdays and Saturdays and hence, these two days are very crowded.
It is recommended to visit the temple from 7 am to 8 am or after sunset. The evening Arati (prayer) is stunning and the total temple echoes the spiritual vibrations. There is no admission fee and this place can be reached by local buses, auto rickshaws, metered taxis and mini buses.
This impressive temple is regarded as a pilgrimage Mecca not only for Hindus but for people of other sects also. It was at this place that the spiritual giant Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa reached nirvana.
At this temple, millions of devotees offer prayer to the Goddess along with customary hibiscus flowers and sweetmeat. Opposite to the main temple of Kali, there are a dozen Shiva temples. Additionally, there is a Laxmi Narayan temple that entices thousands of devotees.
