Marble Palace located in North Kolkata is a palatial nineteenth century mansion that has walls and floors made of marble. It is located on the Muktaram Babu Street in Kolkata.
This Palace has a neoclassical style where the plan of the open courtyards is majorly traditional Bengali. In this structure, one can find many objects pertaining to Victorian furniture and Western sculpture and paintings of the Indian and European artists.
Among the decorative objects are busts of queens and kings, floor to ceiling mirrors, clocks and large chandeliers. “The Martyrdom of St. Sebastian” and “The Marriage of St. Catherine” are the two paintings by Rubens in this place.
“Venus and Cupid” and “The Infant Hercules Strangling the Serpent” are the two paintings by Sir Joshua Reynolds. There are also some other paintings by John Opie, Murillo and Titian.
