The BBD Bagh is a square in Central Kolkata that was formerly called as Dalhousie Square in the memory of the Governor General of India from 1847 to 1856, Lord Dalhousie, but was renamed BBD (Binoy, Badal, Dinesh) Bagh in the memory of the three patriotic sons of Bengal who became martyrs during the Indian struggle of Independence.
In the midst of this square is a tank called Lal Dighi and this square is the central business district of Kolkata that has several British colonial structures which can be visited at any convenient time within the time slot of 10 am to 12 noon and 6 pm to 9 pm as the climate is more pleasant.
The BBD Bagh is extended over an area of two square kilometers and it encompasses minimum 50 heritage buildings.
It has been declared by the World Monument Fund to be an endangered world heritage site.
