Rating:

Chowringhee is an assembly constituency in central Kolkata that has Jawaharlal Nehru Road (earlier called as Chowringhee Road) on its western side and is a shopper’s destination and entertainment-hotel center.

To the north of Chowringhee lies Janbazar, to the south is Bhowanipore, to the west is the Maidan and to the east is Taltala and some areas under Park Street Police Station.

The name Chowringhee seems derived from a yogi, Chourangi Guru who built and founded the original Kalighat Temple.
