Darjeeling is a hilly region. Hence, walking can be a difficult task out here. In addition, many travelers visit the city for trekking and rock climbing. A good pair of strong and comfortable shoes is the first thing travelers must carry here.
Winters and monsoons can be harsh in the town. In winters, the temperature can go below freezing level. Warm clothes, rainwear and umbrellas must be carried in this season. Darjeeling is rich in flora and fauna.
The forests surrounding the town are home to some of the rare species of animals. Nobody would like to miss the chance of capturing these sights. Therefore, powerful binoculars and camera are other important things a traveler must carry.
Shopping freaks could carry an extra bag to store the things they buy from the market. A backpack containing packaged water and food come in handy while roaming around the town. This also avoids the temptation of eating food from roadside food stalls.
