Its my birthplace and I can say that it's a little and emotional place. But still many issues have to be focused carefully for its more development. Such things like safety of a lady in some of the galis' here and there in our city can be made better by appointing police vans or so. The literacy and mentality of some people from rural areas, has to be developed by spreading the light of 'SHIKHSHA' to them. There is still a beautiful city to visit and which have to learn many things above all to observe and learn about a different culture.
October to March is the best time to visit Calcutta. It was a short stay in November 2013 but really enjoyed it. People are very welcoming. Just one advise avoid going to isolated places after 9 pm. As my stay was quite short I hired a guided tour company named Let's Meet Up Tours... and they were just fantastic. In a short notice they arranged for a full day Calcutta city tour and I was accompanied by Indu, the explorer. She was very informative and really made my day.
