This town has existed since the English invaded India. There are lots of families who had extensive ties to foreign investments in Ranaghat and are proactive in the political system development. The Palchoudhry families were the Jamidars and the Deychoudhary families were the jotdars of the old town.
One can visit the Churni Nodhir ghat which is a bridge connecting Ainstola to Burrabazzar on the east bank. There is the Siddheshwari temple which is famous and is situated in the heart of the town. This old temple is in existence for over 150 years and devotees, especially women pray on a regular basis in this temple. There is also a church in West Bengal and ranks close to the Bandel Church. The fabric works inside the prayer room and the aesthetic design of the outside wall is fabulous. There is another temple near the Happy club maidan known as the Nistarini temple. One can visit the Ranaghat fort which is situated outside the main township and which is a popular sport.
