The city of Shiliguri is located in the Northern part of the West Bengal State which in turn lies in the eastern region of India. The Shiliguri city has a total area of about 6227 square kilometers which is huge. Being located in the eastern region of India the weather in this city is perfect for tourists in winters and is a bit warm in summers. The minimum temperature recorded here is about 12 degrees Celsius in January and February during the winter season and the regular temperature in this region is around 21 to 35 degrees Celsius in the month of March till June in the summer season. As the city is located close to the huge water mass namely The Bay Of Bengal, rainfall is high in this city in the months of June to August which is the rainy season. Even though the city is big in size, it comprises of beautiful landscapes. The city is not so developed with most of the population engaged in agriculture. The population dwelling in the city of Shiliguri is counted out to be around 4, 70,275 people according to the 2001 census. The population density is very high in this city.
