Maumere City
The tourism hotspot of Flores is Maumere City. In this city, the tourists can visit the singular museum on the island, old relics from the Portuguese era, beautiful nature, a traditional weaver and ideal places for diving and snorkeling. From this city, it is possible to visit the lakes of Keli Mutu. The traditional villages and mountainous landscape in the district Ngada close to Bajawa are the best on the island.
Ende City
The largest city in Flores is Ende City. On the western side of this city is situated the Pelabuhan Ende Harbor from where one can have a good view of Teluk Ende (Bay of Ende). On the eastern side of this city is located the Pelabuhan Ipi Harbor where one can view big ships. From this city, one can view volcanoes like Ebulobo, Meja and Gunung Ipi. There is a volcanologic station in the Tetandara Village from where one can climb the volcano.
Riung
In Riung, the local women prepare particular sarongs which consist of red and yellow flowers on a blue-black background which are quite expensive. The farmers in this place export tuna, tripang, dried fish, coconuts and copra.
